#3: Eat At Five Guys

AHHHHHH! So, it was 7:30 p.m on the 9th of June when I decided to cross something off of my list. I didn't exactly know which one I was going to tackle but Sabrina, a friend of mine suggested we go eat at Five Guys. I wasn't too sure about it since it was in Northridge and I knew my parents wouldn't really want to drive us there. Then suddenly I remembered that my older sister already had her license and was free to drive us around. The next step was to ask my parents for permission because I knew they weren't too comfortable with my sister driving so far when it was about to get dark outside. I had to explain that it was for the sole purpose of crossing something off of my list. After a while they agreed and we were on our way.

I was so excited to finally experience what everyone has been talking about. The moment I saw this sign I knew it was going to be a great night!

After everything that I had heard about this place I was prepared to order everything small. We ended up ordering two "little burgers" (which looked like regular sized burgers to me), large fries, and one regular sized drink for three people. Here's what our food looked like:
Overall, I was more than satisfied with the food. I also appreciated the service because every once in a while an employee would approach us and ask us if we needed anything else. I felt very comfortable and relaxed the entire time. I can truly say that Five Guys is one of the best burger places I have ever visited. They definitely deserve this title.

Helicopter Ride

Ever since I can remember, I have wanted to ride in a helicopter. I first got my inspiration from watching the Disney movie Cars (my favorite Disney movie by the way). I remember watching Mater taking a ride in the Dinoco helicopter and how much fun he was having. It's somewhat silly but after that moment I knew I wanted to take a helicopter ride before I died. I honestly didn't even know it was possible. The first thing I did was open up an internet web page and I googled 'helicopter rides in los angeles, ca'. The first option was this site.
http://www.los-angeles-helicopter-tours.com/
I initially thought that $145 for a thirty minute ride was too expensive but I realized that I had to take everything into consideration. These things included fuel charges, taxes, and airport fees. The website says that these things are not included but I really thought about how much money is needed for one ride. I realized that it was a reasonable price for such a beautiful experience.
I'm planning on asking my parents to allow me to do this for my birthday which is in a few months. I would be so thrilled if I had the opportunity.

#21: Go to Fright Fest at Six Flags

I completely forgot to blog about this! I went to Six Flags Fright Fest with a few of my closest friends last year. Beforehand, I promised myself I would never go to any sort of Halloween event at a theme park. I'm such a little chicken when it comes to scary things. I don't know what changed but I suddenly felt the urge to go last year. My friends and I planned on going before Halloween and what do you know, we went! I was actually really nervous at first because I had never gone in any of the mazes and I had heard that they were freaky! The first maze we went into I was clinging to one of my friends. Turns out, they weren't even that scary so I was freaking out over nothing. I actually had a great time spending the night with my friends and sharing some laughs and screams! Overall, I'm honestly glad that I built up the courage to go because it was really worth it! By the way, the picture on the right was taken while we were in line waiting for a roller coaster. :)

How I've Grown

This project has become something more for me. I realize now that I've neglected it greatly but I am beginning to see how I have changed. At the very beginning, when my teacher Mrs. Mohr explained the main idea of the project I didn't like it at all. I initially thought that it was pointless and wouldn't help me at all. Since then, I have grown as a student and person overall. In making my list at first, I just made up the most random things to get to one hundred items. I read over it today and wonder what on earth I was thinking because a lot of the items aren't truly important to me. My bucket list has since transformed into a list of things I desire to complete before my time comes.
I have really grown as a person since August. Eight months ago I didn't have the mentatlity I have today. In the recent weeks, I have started to think about what I want people to remember me as. Along with this, I want to die knowing that I've lived my life to the fullest.

Reflection

I chose to read J Macias's reflection about the buried life project. This student seemed to really enjoy this project and he got a lot out of it in the end. He talks about how it was a great experience for him to get to do simple but special things. He was inspired by crossing off things on his list but at the same time adding things as well. He says something about how we can't just live in the "moment" but we have to make that moment a part of our lives. It's very cool to see that someone who has done this project already has learned so much and has developed not only as a student but as a person.
I would like to in a way be like J because he seemed to really "get into" the project. I want to learn new things about myself. I know that by doing this project I will learn to not just live in the spur of the moment but enjoy the things I get to do. I want to also learn to appreciate the little things I do. I think that over the next few months I have to really engage in this project. I've realized that I don't really post things often and I think that it by not participating as I should I'm not really understanding the project. My goal is to post something every month like we are supposed to so that I can feel like a part of this project. Most of all though I want to really make the time to cross off things from my list.
